Dave
I only counted 5, unless your number 6 matey .
I thought they may of entered 2 teams this year to give a few others a chance to enter.
I think as a minimum and on current form, these should be playing
Kev Roles
Chris Heywood
John Reid
Ronnie Frankland
Joe

No chance of two teams-we struggle to get anyone else to put their names up for the current squad, which is why it's usual suspects only.

I cant believe its a struggle to find 6 players or indeed 12 for 2 teams, there is at least 1 or 2 players in maybe every league team that is worthy of a chance. I also cant believe that the "usual suspects" are the only ones who can/do enter. A couple of years ago, the league said it would enter 2 teams, why did this not happen? If we are a league, there are more players in this league than just the stute, and thats no disrespect to the players at the stute as i think Kev, Chris and Jon are by far amongst the best players in the league.
I am sure there would of been plenty of interest for a 2nd team, but it seems like the 1st team HAS ALREADY BEEN PICKED

The following have played for the League Team, and as far as I know have either asked to be left out,or not asked to be included:G.Duncan,S.Ong,C.Heywood,P.Ryan.Dave Baines was asked to play whilst a member of the league, but declared himself unavailable, others may have been in the same boat.I don't know all the players who may have been asked to play, that's a League management issue. All that aside all are obviously invited to volunteer, and there is no"closed shop".

First match this season, but the games were closer than the scores might suggest.Ronny Flost to a colours clearance,as did John Reid,Dave Jefferys lost a black ball game, whilst Kevin Roles won one to save our faces;it being Valentines Day,neither team had a fifth player.Onwards and upwards next Wednesday at Rileys Stretford.Any interested parties are welcome to attend when the team will be;Mark Matulka,Nick Heaton,Kevin Roles,Tommy Tully and Dave Jefferys.

For next season, can i suggest 2 teams or possibly 3 (if this is possible) are entered for this inter league and that the league places notices on all club notice boards.
I am sure that players from ALL CLUBS in the league could of fielded a player or 2
It says players were asked if they wanted to play but opted to be left out this season. Which players were actually invited to play? ie did a note go round the league asking people if they wanted to participate.

From what I know Joe, the Interleague Team was, at least originally, nothing to do with David Darlington; they simply used the Prestwich League banner to represent the league. I would expect that there is no problem entering a second team next year as long as there are two people prepared to co-run it. An informal meeting would probably be a good start.

I agree, am sure there would be enough interest for a 2nd team and it wouldnt be hard to find a couple of people to do it
Joe
MarkP - February 26, 2007 07:03 PM (GMT)
I'm sure there will be more than enough for two teams.
Even people who aren't in the top twenty players would probably fill in if required, rather than see the team short.

Good Luck tommorrow night guys, come back with a win

Better news tonight from the Interleague team, with Nick H.and Tommy T.getting us off to a flyer, putting the team 2-0 up,and well in front on aggregate, unfortunately followed by Dave J.and Mark Matulka both losing to leave the match 2-2 and only 19 points in front for the aggregate.Kevin R.played the anchor role to perfection, recording a break of 45 to eventually win a hard fought game to leave the final result 5-2 to Prestwich, and all to play for in the last two round-robin matches. The next match is on 14thMarch when the probable team will be:Tommy Tully,Kevin Roles,Nick Heaton,John Reid and Ronny Frankland, the venue is Swinton Cons.Club, against Wilmslow.Anybody with an interest in the Interleague team is again invited to attend, and see what the competition is about.
