Title: Cutting To The Chase

MarkP - March 4, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
Who would be interested next season who hasn't played already?
David Darlington has advised that the Prestwich League pays the entry fee, but would probably not sanction a second team. Some of us would simply make up the numbers when short, others obviously have the ability to test themselves at that level even if they don't win.

Would the members of a proposed second team therefore be interested in a pay as you play process where they foot the bill for the experience?

joehague - March 4, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
Mark

I didnt realise the League paid for a team to play in the interleague, how much would it cost for a 2nd team?

Personally i feel it very unfair for a couple of reasons

1) The first team was already chosen and a closed shop situation (however many people say it wasnt) was in place, If people are saying it was open to the league, where were the league notices asking if anyone was interested.

2) It would be unfair for a 2nd team to have to pay, when the first team doesnt.

Furthermore, i thought Dave D had nothing to do with the interleague (see previous posts), however The league pay for the first team and Dave runs the league.

Not very often i get a flea in my ear, but you have to agree, its a bit poor...

Me and Dave Wright will happily front a second team next season, as i said in previous emails there are lots of good players in this league who if asked am sure will play

hurricane - March 6, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
hey take it easy joe...dd has to run this league all on his own.....no one helps him out....the iterleague has been a shambles for years..last year one team from our league didnt bother to go because they thought it was all over turns out it wasnt...so until we get some officers to help dd ie secretary president vice chairman then things will just amble along....

joehague - March 6, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
Dave

Wasnt moaning about the way the league is run ( far from it), Dave does a super job running it by himself.

My gripe is about the interleague, i was thinking about other people in the league wanting to participate, hence why i suggested a 2nd team next year.

All i suggested was a notice going up asking people if they wanted to participate, be it 1st, 2nd or 3rd team.

Joe

hurricane - March 8, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
i agree joe but...reason our best 6 dont play is because its not well organised and transport..etc..needs sorting out with printed fixtures not spur of moment on a monday nite

potty david - March 11, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Re Hurricane,6th.Mar,not to our credit, but it was 2 years ago when the team did'nt turn up.Last season we reached the Quarter Finals without too many problems, but as we saw 2 years ago, there can be a serious loss of interest when the team is'nt doing so well.

potty david - March 11, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
Re Hurricane 8th Mar,you are obviously whistling in the dark.As previously stated several players who would be in anyone's top six have expressed their desire not to be considered for personal reasons.

hurricane - March 13, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
yes i think mr AV IT was in charge wasnt he

Crackig match tonight,in which Nick Heaton and Tommy Tulley both lost close frames,at the ends of which neither player quite had the running .Ronny Frankland played a tremendous 3rd frame, leaving us 2-1 down, but level on aggregate,a situation that John Reid fully exploited with some scintillating potting to leave us 2-2 and 26 points to the good. This was a position that Kevin Roles took full advantage of,when, though beaten in his game he potted a very good pink to give the team a 4-3 victory, and every prospect of reaching the quarter finals if we follow up with a good result in the final group game in two weeks time at Riley's Snooker Club at Belle View in a group in which any of the five teams involved can still progress.Let's hope it's onwards and upwards.

usonofabitch - March 21, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Well all this talk about wanting to play inter-league snooker, how about those wanting to play next season give there support to our next game at SUZI CUES (rileys) at Belvue next Wedensday, come and see what it's all about, it's a must win game for us, the higest break so far in these stages i believe is over a hundred so the standard is very good, fingers crossed we can do it. :)

"Av it" - March 21, 2007 11:14 AM (GMT)
Lets really cut to the chase -

Dave Darlington ran this team last year and when the team didnt have any chance of going through to the next stage they dropped themselves quicker than a whores knickers.

Dave Jeffries has took over and yes the same players played again, but as they have a chance of getting through they are still playing.

If the Prestwich League sponsor a first team then why not a 2nd? whats the difference. I would probably see the 2nd team being more committed than the first or should I say the Stute.

Lets have a meeting or notices on notice boards for next year and start raising the Prestwich League profile, you never know we might even get some new teams entering.

AV IT is back

Am i Mr Avit??, or has he just said everything i said not long ago..

Welcome back Mr Av it or should i say "XXXXX", you havent been posting much on your other name either.. too busy with work i gather, you do slip on and slip off here during the day in your other address, so why not make a grand entrance in a mask and cape at the Presentation night. Welcome back AV IT and as usual controversial comments as ever, and as you are talking out of your backside (Nothing changed there then) i will correct you on a couple of points.
Firstly DD did not run the team last year Mr Jeffreys did and we did very well in the group stages, only getting beat in a close game at Blackley in the knock-out stages :( Ohhh and while i'm thinking about it how many of you wana be inter-league players bothered to turn up and support us "NONE" is'nt that a surprise, much easier to gripe about the team being a closed shop a year later when if you realy wanted to play something should have been said at the end of last season or at the very least the begining of this one, or are we all mind readers.
Secondly all this closed shop talk is b*ll*cks if your good enough and want to play you can simple as that, the team contrary to what some people think is not just the stute players Tully,Ronnie,Mc Tulka, paul rayan not forgetting the mustached one maggers have all played, and the way dave runs it there is no favourites biggest loser out no arguments.
I personally think there is enough good players in the league to have a second team as deeply dippy has pointed out, i'm all for it and the way i'm playing at the moment there is a good chance i'll be signed on it :D
So if you are going to run it joe next year just rember i let you murder me at billiards last wek

No fireworks tonight in our last league match but a well orchestrated 6-1 win over Chadderton C saw us qualify for the K.O.stage again. Our quarter-final will be in 2 weeks time, venue and opponents not known yet.I will post the information when I have it.

:D The boys have done it again well done!!! and as for av it you must be full of it and sh*t on the table coz you don't even tell us who you are...... If your not -14 you should not even be considerd for the inter league team as you can't be considerd as a top player in the prestwich league. and how could you say that picking players from the second devishion for the team could merit not chooseing other first team players out of divishion 1 first.

Hello Mr Bond welcome to the site.

Just a couple of observations about your pathetic post,

1, I am full of Sh*t and a sh*t player because you dont know who I am that sounds like you have come to a sensible conclusion - NOT

2, What makes you think I am not -14 or indeed have actually played in the Inter league Team

3, I think you must be pretty narrow minded if you think that some of those players playing in the 2nd division arent as good as a high number of the players playing in the 1st

4, I didnt mention 2nd division players playing in the Interleague team I actually mentioned there should be a 2nd team dohhhhhhhhh

5, And finally next time you write a post get a dictionary out and look up the vocabulary before you type it, so can you not only read but you cant spell either. The spelling for devishion is actually "division", chooseing is "choosing", considerd is "considered", divishion is "division"

If you want to take on the Mighty Av It lets go for it, but like many before you, you will be SILENCED !!!!!

Well well well, The sideburn kid strikes back, nice to see someone putting a bit of spice back into proceedings, I was thinking of unvailing because the site had gone a little dull but I think I will keep the cloak on and the dagers out for a little longer.

As for your comments on who managed the Inter league last year you may want to check out some facts - DD was involved mate

The talk of closed shop is right but this debate has livened things up and can only make the Prestwich team or Teams stronger next year with the interest generated

Welcome Back SBK

Whats this about no fireworks - Mr Meldrew must be a master at the near misses, I believe he was 104 in front in the aggregate going into his game and lost by over 90

All this after alledgedly telling John Reid he didnt have the bottle to play last

Laffing my ass off even more with this one

Next match is against Chadderton B at Crucible,Stockport on 18th April. The team will be;.R.Frankland,N.Rhodes-Heaton,J.Reid,K.Roles,T.Tully.Still open to anybody to come along and see how easy it all is.

might pop down for that one, only round the corner

Unfortunately this is the last report this season ,as the team lost a hard-fought match 4-0,though,with a little bit extra at the end of each game it could have been 4-0 to Prestwich.I'll just take this opportunity to thank the team for their efforts, and hope we get a bit more reward in the future.

whats the prize money in this interleague carryon....seems like a lot of hard work for nothing,,...reason i ask is that the secretary at prescons pointed out to me that the STANLEY BELL comp still has prize money of #1000...and a local team would well be capable of winning this in fewer games...its been done before

Joe

old dog - April 21, 2007 07:07 AM (GMT)

at higher broughton cons we played all over

liverpool
blackpool

the north west is a big area

hurricane - April 21, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
yes i think there were people who didnt like you taking their place....theyve all now gone for one reason or another....so cannot see problem one of the teams being as before....ps you still didnt tell me what prize money in the interleague....

old dog - April 21, 2007 09:47 AM (GMT)
£500 for winners

£200 for runners up

£100 for semis

also see what you can do for a extra team

hurricane - April 21, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
