Guys and the odd girl on here...
At the end of last season, the forum seemed to go quiet (somewhat like our out of season practice), lets try and keep the posts going.
Maybe Mark , you could be our Prestwich Snooker correspondent for the World Championships

True, we've been tried to get rid of that Nick chap for years, always complaining about that far table with the raised area. Oh, wait. :P
Anyway, back on topic. One word to describe the rocket today - majestic.
An awesome combination of potting and very good matchplay (picking reds off rather than his usual going into the pack). Ding needed a century to take his only frame of the day. Resumes 14:30 on Monday
Frame scores (O'Sullivan first):
84-36 (58) 99-3 (50) 110-1 (109) 84-41 123-0 (66, 63) 32-104 (103) 70-69 133-0 (63, 70) 71-33
Well done to Ian McCulloch on swiftly ending Graeme Dott's defence of the title. Stevens has had the biggest win so far with a 10-2 demolition of Joe Delaney, while Peter Ebdon beat Nigel Bond 10-7.
The other game I've watched some of this weekend is the clash of the commentators, with Parrott edging The Nugget out 10-9. JP played well to open up a 6-1 lead, Davis fought hard to level at 6-6, Parrott took the initiative again to go 9-6 before Davis again battled back and forced a decider. David then went in-off, allowing Parrott to mop up enough balls to fall over the line.
How's that Joe? :P

Well, it took Ronnie around an hour to finish up today. Ding pulled one back, but Ronnie responded with an 86 break before completing the rout with a 72. On that form, you could close the book, but hey, it's Ronnie :)
Elsewhere, Fergal O'Brien clinched a place in the second round with a 10-9 win over world number 12 Barry Hawkins, while Judd Trump hit back to cut the gap on Shaun Murphy to just 5-4 at the end of the first session, having trailed 3-0. In the all-Ireland affair, debutant Mark Allen currently leads Ken Doherty 4-2
Current high break is 129 by Barry Hawkins, but we've seen them at the Stute, so meh.

Tell you what, Joe, you can have a go tomorrow.
I've just become an uncle so my missus is off to see her sister in hospital and I've got plenty other stuff to keep me busy!
Well, back to today and Mark Allen kept up the hard work to leave Ken 6-3 behind after the first session, probably the biggest gap you can leave with a decent chance of a comeback after the first session.
Shaun Murphy meanwhile was made to work hard for his 10-6 win against Judd Trump, with the youngster (sh*t I feel old calling a snooker player a youngster!) knocking in two 80-odd breaks in a good debut performance.
Stephen Maguire takes a comfortable 7-2 lead into the second session against Joe Perry with a 124 being the highlight of the first session. Hamlilton had a similarly easy time of it, getting home comfortably 10-3 against Marco Fu.
Order of play for tomorrow:
1000 BST
Ken Doherty (Ire) v Mark Allen (NI)
Mark Williams (Wal) v Joe Swail (NI)
1430 BST
Stephen Maguire (Sco) v Joe Perry (Eng)
Stephen Hendry (Sco) v David Gilbert (Eng)
1900 BST
Mark Williams (Wal) v Joe Swail (NI)
