Prestwich Libs 1st Snooker vs Unsworth

Smoking Facilities
2 areas of interest for you smokers. Either outside the front door of the club or the rather more secluded patio area to the rear, where seating included a sterdy wooden bench with a halogen night light providing some warmth against the Autumn chill.

Catering:
A beautiful array of deep filled rolls accompanied by a selection of succulent mini pork pies.

Match Report:
Well what can I say. Well done to Unsworth! After checking the card at the start I could see a tough night ahead, what with some difficult handicapping. Fair play to Unsworth though, they put a few 'good' players to the sword even taking the handicaps into account so that can be no excuse for the poor performances that a packed Liberal club witnessed last night.

It wasn't all doom and gloom, MBM showed great steadfastness during his 45 minute frame to run out a comfortable winner in the end. Similarly Ken showed that it was possible to dig in and grind out a result after potting a fantastic pink and black to sneak his match.

Result
Prestwich Libs (2) Unsworth (6)

Good luck to Unsworth for the forthcoming season.

Stute 7 Whitefield Cons 1
Off to a good start, the result hard fort for as always when we play whitefield, the new handi-caps not realy coming in to play, that test will be when we play hpsc or crumpsall i think :( .
From what i can remember suee beat Mr Vetchy, ant beat Mr Jefferys, nick beat Graham, reidy beat Mr Mosses, old rabbit foot did'nt have time to get into his stride against kev, kev broke off and went in off he must of thought emm not playing well ay, i think two shots later each kev knocks in 52 and was very unlucky on going into the pack off potting the black to score more, to be fair chris was wearing his new glasses ( joe 90 springs to mind) and struggled because he could actually see where the pockets were
Last game was chris heywood v mark Mctulka which went right down to the wire and after chris went in off when mark needed a snooker only to leave the pink up after a difficult attampted pot. (Is'nt that always the way) :(

Nick, won by 3 against Dave Lonsdale, I had to give 21 start. he was a good plus player last season so it might of been a different story. We could of won 8-0 only for 2 games to be decided on the last 2 colours. But as i said a good result.....

See you next week

Joe

WIN FOR THE STUTE 6-2

K ROLES BT J.HAGUE (neck and neck until last red, and a 31 clearance by Kev - bloody fluked final red) damn !!, not bitter you understand.. ha ha

C HEYWOOD BT J BAILEY ( ALL ONE WAY - 29 break from CHRIS)

N R HEATON BT C RAWLINSON ( WE DROPPED A BOLLOCK, our ref mis-read the handicaps i believe, -21 and +14 should of been 35 start to us, we got 7 start.. oh well !!)

D JEFFREYS BT M O ROURKE (Close game, went to the black)

J REID LOST TO C ARTHRINGTON (another black ball game)

S ONG LOST TO P RAWLINSON ( rawly won by 30 0dd)

usual scoreline probably of 6-2 down to the stute

usonofabitch - September 27, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
Unlucky joe :( that was a bit of a fluke by Kev and he did make the most of it, no comfort i know.

Fluke Master - September 28, 2007 07:51 AM (GMT)
Whitefield Cons v Prestwich Libs

Don V bt Ste Seddon in a close frame (Ste still not played his new tip in or recovered from his operation, not sure which excuse will be used yet)

Chris West bt Big Ronnie (The new glasses finally working properly)

Tom Tully bt Mark Matulka (Tom potting a superb final black to sneak the frame)

Ste Lightfoot bt ???? (Can't remember opponent, but a change of name by deed poll to Mr. Whackit would be quite appropriate)

???? bt Jamie (1st team nerves?)

Lee Kennedy bt Mr Moses (A comfortable lead at one point for Lee. However, the distraction of the butties brought out mid frame, ensured a closer finish than it should have been)

Result 5 - 3 to the Libs

Ratings: Out of 5 stars

Food *** (Nice garlic bread and sarnies)
Drink *** (Nice pint)
Smoking Facilities (Were there any????) Minus ***
Background Music ***** (If you like to play snooker with country music blaring out)

Not a bad result for the Libs, but we need better if we are to be in with a shout at the end of the season.

MarkP - September 28, 2007 08:25 AM (GMT)
HPSC 7 Crumpsall 1

Mr Lonsdale would appear to be struggling off scratch.
First two games went to Heaton Park, with Craig and Paul playing well enough. Honours even second two, with me beating Matt, last two games to Heaton Park.

Things are looking up, we've already won more snooker games than we won in the whole of last season and scored over half the points!

Veni Vidi Vici - September 28, 2007 10:29 AM (GMT)
A good win for the Liberals again last night away at Whitefield. Well played boys. Apologies for missing out. Well played Tom, Lighters and Lee.

Not sure what happened MBM but I hope you had a quicker frame than those of late!!

If there are any suggestions to help imporove the form of Mr Frankland at the moment - answers on a postcard for his attention to the Liberal Club please...

:D

I'd love to think so, but possibly not :D

If I've done nothing more than given them a bit of confidence, then that's great. Both tables at Heaton Park had billiards played on them for over an hour the other Tuesday, great to see it.

Have HPSC got enough players to field a 2nd team?

Why, has Lee been dropped again?

We're ringing round on Thursday nights sometimes to get a 1st team!
It's no problem (usually) when we're at home but getting six players to away games can be an issue at times. So no, no chance of a second team. The club itself has been pretty quiet a lot of the time - I've been in on various nights throughout the week and unless there's something on, there's usually six people in max (it's like being back in the Stute, only warmer).

So come on then spill the beans why did you jump ship

As you know, I prefer billiards to snooker.

It was the whole uncertainty of what was happening with the second division billiards and whether there would be a division. Even the four-player team means that we wouldn't be playing many games each and I fancied trying my hand in the first division too.

I was already a member at HP, so after they asked me, I thought about it for a few weeks before agreeing to join them.

Nothing sinister, no fall-outs, just me wanting to play billiards as often as possible.
