Maybe giving 2nd teams a 50 point handicap start over 1st teams in the team ko's would be a fair way of doing it? By and large, handicaps have been earned in the respective divisions against a different calibre of player.

I have to agree, the 2nd division teams should be given at least 10pts per man and if this was the case Carlton would have been through this round

Come on King David open up the debate and equalise the competitions the way you have equalised the league handicaps

That said, Steve, we were both part of a second division team that did the quadruple a couple of years ago - we had to give starts in some cases then but did it.

Same old story,I've never read a letter of complaint about the opposition handicaps before a match or if they win, sounds like sour grapes to me.

Brian,

It's not a complaint from the Carlton, though, it's an observation from a Stute player. People won't complain in writing - there's too much apathy in the league as it is so people are hardly going to trouble themselves to write a letter of complaint to David.

Regards,
Mark

apathy is the word....cant blame dd..he tried to accomodate with 4 man teams...what we need is new fixtures for 2nd div billiards play 3 times like 2nd div snooker and changes to ko handicaps is too late this year.... we should arrange a special general meeting of all clubs to set out format for next season... perhaps you can make a notice for each delegate now and arrange it for december to make sure as many as poss turn up...then we can sort out before end of seasoim sure dd will be glad to see all delegates turn up...normally only 1 or 2 go to the meeting

Brian

Its not sour grapes from me its just seems a little unfair for a 2nd Div team to be giving a 1st Div team 110 start, surely you must agree whether its you who benefits or not

the only gripe i have is that peoples billiards handicaps are based on there snooker!!!
anyone agree ??????
just me havin a moan coz i think this applies to me :P

potty david - November 5, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
All handicaps are computed using a declared formula according to results. Each game is computed independantly. The formula is available to anyone interested enough to ask dd.

joehague - November 5, 2007 10:24 PM (GMT)
Handicaps !!

I have been known for the odd winge on handicaps, but is there an answer??

e.g

I have unfortunately been put on -21 this season at snooker, I have lost my last 3 matches, i can evaluate every performance, saying that one game i got a beating, one game i played like a pro and my opponent potted 3 balls all game and won the game and one i lost on the pink. You dont know who you play every match until you look at the team cards, Last season was my best season, (but its the one match game and off similar handicaps, you have a chance. !!, you play some players in the league who are on +15, +20, +25 and you are giving potentially 46 start at snooker, i feel thats where the problem lies. I believe a lot of players including myself think that the difference is too great and that some of these big plus players can actually play the game or can at least score 20 to put you potentially 66 behind.

You will never please everyone, and I think DD does a good job for the league ( I cant see people queuing to take over). If anyone has got any good idea's let discuss them on here and put them forward to Dave D.

Yours truly

Joe

Dilemma for Carlton turning up with 6 players and having to drop one.
6 straws were got from the bar and Joe was the unlucky one to draw the shortest. Good laugh for everyone (except Joe!!) to start us off.

On to result.
