A decent showing from our lads and much promise for the evening with Shaun and Paul off first and both winning well.
Next up was a good win for Kenny to pull Libs back into it and a good tussle between myself and Graham, with the game nip and tuck all the way.
Finally a masterclass from Tom left Barry floundering and a good solid performance from Ron saw him home against Paul. Six winners again the Libs in two billiards matches - not bad going for us.

I can produce fixtures for one division.
If that's what is needed, no problem.
It will take a couple of years for the handicaps to align, but I'd let them run their course rather than changing any arbitrarily.
The only stipulation in that case is that all teams would need to be six strong. I'm sure a couple of players would be OK about moving clubs if required, partly to get a game and partly to make sure all teams are fielding full sides.

billiards wre talking 5 man teams just one division......you should produce fixtures now....mark,,,,cos nothing gets done till its too late
hurricane - April 8, 2008 03:15 PM (GMT)
oh and another thing the extra second div matches need to more easily seen either as part of the overall fixture lists or a single sheet for all to put up at start of season..so its 5 man blliards

I'd keep it at 6 man billiards and let people opt out myself.

the second divsion bllds has been a flop cos noone can raise a team 6 players will not work but if 5 then one 1st teamer can drop down

Chicken and egg really Dave - do you kill a player off from 1st teams?
Obviously that's something to be voted in at the AGM.
A different set of fixtures for the two divisions is possible, but would take more juggling.
I've attached a possible fixture list, but more Tuesdays and/or Thursdays would be required if we were to accommodate more than 12 teams in total.

looks like no one is interested as usual....thought we had agreed 5 man teams all one division bllrds...some clubs strugggled to even get 4 on second team last year...so 5 will help both teams

We hadn't agreed any team structure, Dave; you'd suggested five.
With a six-man structure, those that genuinely want to play billiards may have to move to get a game, but at least if the fixtures are announced early enough, people will know which clubs have two teams and can decide from there.
hurricane - April 15, 2008 12:09 PM (GMT)
so is it because you only have 1 team you want to stay with 6 players....i dont think any one will move..and if we have both a and b teams in one division then some will drop out..they will never get 12 players at crumpsall or pos pres cons carlton...and dont forget hpwm unsworth have no 2 nd team anyway....

We could probably raise two teams of five at a push next season if that was the way it went, but then you wouldn't be able to fit the fixtures in. You'd have to consider a 3 session 2nd division with the extra fixtures linking in with the 1st division games. Say you had 8 teams in division 1 and 6 in division 2, you could have 14 games in div 1 and 15 in div2 with luck of the draw dictating who plays home in the third clash between two teams.

extra second division snooker matches has been good so you should do this for the billiards keeping 4 man teams who will do the extra fixture list.

If Dave wants me to, I can produce the lot in the space of a few hours.
His call but the offer for help is there.

Or put a proposal to run this league yourself? :)
I'm sure a good attendance at the AGM would create plenty of debate and be more creative than individual grumbles.

It *might* be in the fixture books.
If not, ask DD.
I would expect that it should be advertised in all constituent clubs - I know we have to give notice to all clubs via post in the bowling league.
